Overview
We are seeking an Innovation and Equipment Researcher who evaluates and prototypes with emerging hardware and instrumentation. You will work with sensors, cameras, computing devices, and novel input modalities to understand their creative and commercial potential.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate emerging hardware platforms including sensors, cameras, and compute devices
- Build prototypes that demonstrate hardware-software integration possibilities
- Conduct technical assessments of equipment performance, cost, and suitability
- Develop relationships with hardware vendors and early-access programmes
- Document findings and make recommendations for strategic investment
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years working with hardware-software integration, embedded systems, or creative technology
- Experience prototyping with sensors, cameras, or novel input devices
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar for hardware interfacing
- Understanding of electronics, signal processing, or computer vision fundamentals
- Comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly evolving technology landscapes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AR/VR hardware, LiDAR, or hyperspectral imaging
- Background in research laboratory or innovation lab environments
- Experience with FPGA programming or embedded Linux
- Published hardware hacking or prototyping work
